Party

History

This song is based on Matthew 22, and specifically on a sermon preached by Tony Campolo. There is of course much more going on theologically (in both the scripture and sermon) than is addressed in the lyric. But we hope this little rockabilly romp conveys a couple of things: everyone is invited to God’s ‘party’; and there is joy (dare I say fun!) in following Jesus.

Lyrics

Everyone’s invited to a party, everybody gonna have a ball

Everyone’s invited to a party, hosted by the Lord of all

Does anybody wanna be forgiven, anybody want a new life?

Does anybody want a vacation from all those rules regulations and strife?

(chorus) Servants take the message to the streets

Jesus wants to take you to the feast

He will lead the way and you’ll be oh so glad you came

And you’re never gonna be the same

No booze or drugs at the party, love is gonna get you high

Spiritual food is provided so that you don’t have to die

(chorus) Sing and dance and praise to the Lord for all that He has done

The Kingdom of God is like a party goin’ on so let’s have some righteous fun

Everyone’s invited to a party, everybody gonna have a ball

Everyone’s invited to a party, hosted by the Lord of all

Does anybody wanna go to heaven, anybody wanna be free?

Does anybody wanna know the Savior and praise Him eternally?

(chorus)

Never be the same

Everyone’s invited to a party, never gonna be the same

Everybody’s gonna have a ball, never gonna be the same

Everyone’s invited to a party, never gonna be the same

Hosted by the Lord of all, never gonna be the same

Everyone’s invited, hosted by the Lord of, never gonna be the same
