Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long

History

I’ve always thought that the ‘sense of urgency’ aspect of Billy Graham’s preaching was apropos: “Don’t delay. Don’t hesitate. Today is the day to give your life to Christ.” This song explores that thought along with the breathtaking truth that God is always seeking us - throughout our whole life.

Lyrics

Don’t let me wait too long for time is not an endless song

Don’t be too late don’t let me wait too long

When will you wake from the dream and see that it is later than it seems?

Don’t hesitate, don’t let me wait too long

I have reached for you all of your life, with open arms I’ve called your name

Echoes of truth and flashes of light, my restless love cannot be tamed

Don’t let me wait too long for time is not an endless song

Don’t be too late don’t let me wait too long

I know you’re one of the strong but weakness is where you belong

Pride is not your fate, don’t make that mistake too long

My fingerprints are on all that you see, from butterflies to galaxies

No two sunsets painted the same and each one is calling out your name

Deep in your conscience where lies cannot breathe, my Spirit wind blows pure and free

Revealing secrets that you’ve always known, the mystery, I made you for my own

My gifts my benedictions of life and of love are pouring down upon you from above

And thus in my own Son my saving blood flowed down

And my call became a cry, my call remains a cry

Don’t let me wait too long for time is not an endless song

Don’t be too late, don’t hesitate

Don’t be too late, don’t let me wait too long
