Who Knows
History
In 1993, we welcomed our first daughter into the world. Sadly, Abby Marie was born very premature and was with us just a few short weeks. “One Heart One Life” on our first CD, was my first musical reflection on that experience. This song, while quite different, is laced with the same bittersweetness. Pain can be a good, if severe teacher. Among other things, Sandi and I realized we had some amazing friends. True friendship is less about hanging out for fun and more about holding you up when you’re ready to collapse.
Lyrics
(chorus) There’s a heart breaking and who will care and who will share, who knows?
There’s a world shaking and you will cry and so will I, you know
I did open my eyes and I did see
The yearned for unknown, the sage’s secret, the poet’s dream
A knowledge purchased with pain, a truth so pure
Simple, humble, affront to the wise and for all a cure
(chorus)
Like the man on the road beset by thieves
I was bleeding, I was rescued by love so sweet
Anointed was my heart with healing wine
My wounds were bound by loving friends standing at my side
Ooo
I did open my heart and I did feel
A love so free, the cost of a life and more real than real
(chorus)
And you and I, we know
One Heart One Life
(as mentioned in the history above)
