Though We Be Not Worthy
History
My (Jerry’s) Roman Catholic upbringing comes through in this meditation on The Lord’s Supper. The lyric draws on the Communion liturgy; and the music is somewhat reminiscent of Folk Mass songs of the 1970’s. Noah wrote the gorgeous and inspired cello part, performed beautifully by Sandi.
Lyrics
(chorus 1) Though we be not worthy we come to Your table in need
Seeking spiritual blessings, the Bread of Life our souls to feed
Undeserving of Your love and forgiveness
Humbly we approach You at Your altar of grace
(chorus 1)
We come in remembrance of Your suffering and death
For us Your body broken, for us Your blood shed
Only say the word Lord and I shall be healed
Only say the word and I shall be healed
Your blood has cleansed us, washed our sins away
And so we are made worthy to receive You today
(chorus 2) In Christ Jesus we’re worthy and we come to Your table in peace
To receive spiritual blessings and to know Your love for us will not cease
And to know Your love for us will not cease
